Obituary

Michelina (Riggillo) Coffin, 86, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 after a brief illness.  Born in Boston’s North End, the daughter of Italian immigrants the late Saverio and Angelina (Novio) Riggillo, she was the beloved wife of the late Edwin L. Coffin Sr.

Michelina was a North End girl through and through. She was a graduate of Julie Billiart High School, married a North End guy, Edwin, and raised her five children in the neighborhood. True to her Italian heritage and her Catholic faith, everything began with and ended with family. She enjoyed traveling and in her later years especially enjoyed trips to Disney and Las Vegas.

Michelina is survived by her daughters, Debra Coffin of Marlborough, Cheryl Tranghese of Framingham, and Gail Coffin & husband Mannie Corrado of Framingham, her grandchildren, Gerald Scaparotti, Ruchelle Scaparotti, Frank Tranghese, Jr, Alexandra Tranghese, Cheyenne Corrado, and many great grandchildren and nephews. Besides her dear husband Edwin, Michelina was predeceased by her son Edwin Coffin Jr., her daughter, Lorraine Coffin, her son in law, Frank Tranghese, Sr., and her sisters, Phyllis Sarno and Gina Fitzpatrick as well as her grandson Matthew Coffin.

Considering the current health restrictions, Michelina’s family will honor and remember her life with private graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
