William J. Monahan, III, 76, a longtime Framingham resident died Thursday, December 20, 2018, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Born in Worcester the son of the late William J. Jr. & Bridget (Clifford) Monahan, he was the loving husband of Mary F. (Heffernan) for more than 48 years.
Bill was raised in Marlborough, and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He went on to earn his associates degree from UMASS Stockbridge, after which he joined the MA National Guard. He and his wife Mary settled in Framingham in 1973 where they raised their children. He had a successful 38 year career as a mechanic with the MA National Guard.
Bill enjoyed cooking, gardening, and cheering on his beloved Boston sports teams. His top priority was his family, in particular his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Mary, Bill is survived by his children, Kelly Tashian & her husband Mark of Framingham, and Kevin & his wife Gretchen of Palmyra, PA, his grandchildren, Kylie & Matthew Tashian, and Brendan & Norah Monahan. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Carrol Young, David and Robert.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, on Thursday, December 27th from 4 – 7 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. George Church, 74 School St., Saxonville on Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
