Warren James Foynes died June 20, 2018 in Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland. He was 88.

Born on April 21, 1930 in Boston he was the only child of the late James Warren Foynes and Winifred (Lannon) Foynes. Raised and educated in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston he was a graduate of Boston Trade High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. On September 18, 1954 he married Joan P. Harris in Saint Columbkille Church in Brighton. They later moved to Framingham to raise their family in 1959.

Professionally Warren’s career began as a compositor for the former Record American Newspaper which later became the Boston Herald. For over 30 years he worked in the same position for the Boston Globe before his retirement.

Warren was most content working around his house and tending to his yard and gardens with his green thumb. He enjoyed the outdoors which also included fishing, feeding the birds and chipmunks in his yard. He had an enormous love of animals, especially a lifelong succession of beloved cats. Never one to complain he always put others before himself and was there to offer a hand to family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Joan he leaves their children, Maura J. Treacy (Kilian Weigand) of Winthrop, Eileen S. Foynes of Framingham, James Warren ‘Jimmy’ Foynes  of Holliston, Regina M. McNamara (Daniel) of Ashland, Roger N. Foynes (Kymberlee) of Valley Center, California, Mark T. Foynes (Kathleen) of Douglas and Thomas R. Foynes of Vista, California; also survived by 21 grand and great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Warren’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Sunday June 24th,from 4 – 8 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning in Saint George Church, 74 School Street, Saxonville at 10:00 o'clock. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne will be private.
