Michelle Ann (Cody) Fabri, 53, of Framingham, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 30, 2019 surrounded by family and friends after a valiant battle with colon cancer.
Michelle was married for 21 years to her husband, Michael Fabri. A devoted wife and mother to Alyssa, 18, and Zachary, 13, Michelle was the center of her family’s life. She was extraordinary in the ordinary, living each day with grace and gratitude. Michelle worked full time, managed a busy home, and supported her children’s activities. She and Mike gave their children a wonderful example of a marriage founded in love, laughter and mutual respect.
Michelle’s heart burst with pride when Alyssa graduated from Framingham High School and headed off to American International College. She felt blessed to have been able to celebrate that special time with her. Zach was the other bright light in her life. Michelle loved cheering him on at soccer and baseball and was so proud of the smart young man, talented athlete and loving son that he is.
She was a fan favorite of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her smile was warm and contagious, her words were genuine and kind, and her love of life was infectious. Michelle would never turn down an open dance floor, a jello shot toast, or a chance to go trick or treating. She loved summer trips to Rockport and the Berkshires, her backyard garden, neighborhood block parties, and holidays with her large extended family.
Michelle waged an incredible war against her cancer, fighting outrageous odds and undergoing grueling surgeries and treatments for over three years. She worked full time throughout most of her battle, for Byrne Home Health Center in Natick, MA, where she served as Office Manager for over 20 years and loved her co-workers. Through it all, Michelle was persistent, positive, and proud, never letting on how hard things were and always appreciating the beauty of another day.
A lifelong Framingham resident, Michelle was the daughter of the late Leonard Cody and the late Mabel (Cunning) Scafidi.
Besides her husband and children, Michelle leaves her dad, Tony Scafidi; her brothers, David Cody and his wife Kim (Murray) Cody of Dracut, MA, and Dennis Cody and his wife Julie (Smith) Cody of Dolgeville, NY; her mother- and father-in-law, Bert and Marilyn (Brown) Fabri; and several extended family members and friends, including her three best friends, Michelle (Handy) Aramburu, Amy (Rutledge) Lynch, and Annie Wade. Michelle Aramburu, a nurse, was a godsend to Michelle in her final days, setting aside her own sadness to care for her friend with beautiful compassion.
Michelle’s family would like to thank Dr. Kala Seetharaman and the amazing nurses and staff at the MetroWest Cancer Care Center for all the loving support they provided through Michelle’s illness.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michelle’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Saturday, October 5th from 12 – 3 P.M. A celebration of her life will follow in the funeral home at 3 P.M. Interment will be private.
