Louise T. Kelly (Zaorski) of Framingham, MA, 96 passed away with family by her side on Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late John V. Kelly. They met in the early 1940’s at General Electric in Pittsfield and married in October 1946. After a commitment to the Navy, they moved to NY where John studied Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. While there, Louise was employed as the department assistant in the Chemistry Department and was well loved by her coworkers. Upon Jack’s graduation, they moved to Framingham where they lived for more than 62 years.
It is Framingham were they raised their children; Nancy of Swampscott, Peter of Framingham and Dana of Marlboro.
She was a wonderful stay at home Mom, managing the household with an astute eye for budgeting, finance and investing. She taught her children the importance of saving and was a keen bridge and poker player. Never wanting to lose money in card games, Louise only played at the minimum level. Supervising the large garden, Louise was well known for her home made raspberry jam not to be outdone by any commercial providers. Vacation was part of her life including trips to Greece, Las Vegas and annual treks to Maine and the Cape Cod beaches. Upon John’s retirement, they enjoyed more than 15 years of leisure life in the New England area.
Louise will always be lovingly remembered for her kindness, generosity and infectious smile. A warm and quiet person she shared those qualities with her family. Often found sitting on the backyard swing, listening to those sharing heartache or happiness or creating stories that fascinated her grandchildren, Louise always kept her council, never judging yet always offering a kind and thoughtful word.
Growing up in a family of 8 children, she leaves two sisters, Jane Geary and Blanche Gritz both of Pittsfield, MA, daughters-in-law Cathy Kelly of Westboro and Kathy Kelly of Marlboro, 3 grandchildren; Peter, Dylan and Ryan Kelly and many, many beloved nieces, nephews and lifetime friends.
A celebration of her life will be held in early Fall for all family and friends to remember a wonderful woman, mother and grandmother!
Louise resided at the Carlyle House for 2 years where she received wonderful personal attention and care by the loving medical and nursing staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Louise’s name to the Carlyle House, 342 Winter St, Framingham, MA 01701.
