Framingham - Mrs. Dorothy V. (Hindle) Snooks, formerly of Charlestown, Rhode Island, died on February 18, 2019 in Saint Patrick Manor in Framingham. She was 91.
She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 18, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Donnelly) Hindle. An only child she lived through the great depression. She was a longtime resident of Charlestown for 42 years before moving to Framingham in 2017 to be closer to family. She had been a communicant of St. James Chapel in Charlestown.
While a resident of Charlestown she was active in the Senior Center where she was instrumental in helping organize many activities and trips. She would look forward to her monthly canasta card games with friends. An enthusiastic cook she would experiment with the many recipes she collected. She preferred winter over summer and would enthusiastically greet family, friends and strangers with her signature smile. She enjoyed reading and when her sight declined she adapted to listening to books on tape. All the while her smile remained and she would tell her family that she had lived a good life.
She was the wife of the late Sidney J. Brown (1969) and the late Joseph G. Snooks (2009) and beloved mother of the late Paul M. Brown and Robert T. Brown.
She leaves a daughter, Dianne Normandin, of Sacramento, California; two stepchildren, John H. Snooks (Laraine) of Framingham, Massachusetts and Jo Ann Terris of Salem, Connecticut; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
