Donovan S. Bailey

May 5, 1973 ~ July 31, 2019 (age 46)

Obituary

When you love what you do and it’s your passion…it isn’t work. The long hours and all that accompanies a successful start up business, Down the Road Beer Co. on Ashland Street in Everett was Donovan Bailey’s dream come true. www.downtheroadbrewery.com

Born with an entrepreneurial spirit and drive Donovan was always five steps ahead. Prior to establishing this brew company in 2013 he had worked in construction, for National Grid, trained and worked as a licensed E.M.T. and was a member of Local #537 Pipefitters Union. But all the while working in other trades, he had a desire to be his own boss and succeed at his new endeavor.

Sadly, Donovan died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. He was 46.

On May 5, 1973 Wayne A. and Mary Christine (Foley) Bailey welcomed Donovan into their world in Endicott, New York. Raised in Beaverton, Oregon they moved to Newton in 1990 where he would later graduate from Newton South High School. He honorably served in the United States Army National Guard. He moved to Malden three years ago to be closer to his home away from home…the brewery.

His personality and heart were as big as he was and while often dubbed as ornery he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. He had a terrific sense of humor, good nature and affable personality. He adored his family and his much-loved dog, Bella.

In addition to his parents, Wayne and Dr. Mary Christine Bailey of St. Pete Beach, Florida he leaves his daughter, Misty Dawn Prince-Bailey of El Paso, Texas; his brother, Sean S. Bailey of Stow and the late Bryan S. Bailey; also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers and patrons.
