Donald J. Daniel, 67, died Thursday morning, June 28, 2018 in the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham, MA following a courageous battle with cancer. A resident of Framingham, Don was born in Providence, RI, the son of the late Charles P. & Helene (Grahn) Daniel.
Don was raised and educated in Cranston, RI where he was a 1969 graduate of Cranston High School East. After which, he enlisted in the Navy proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He went on to work in construction, and assisted in event planning for Susan O’Neill & Associates while living in Alexandria, VA. He really enjoyed working for all of the political events as well as the charitable events such as So Others Might Eat (SOME) and the American Ireland Fund Gala. He always enjoyed gardening and helping people, particularly his family and neighbors. He was also very active in his church.
Don was a family man who loved nothing more then spending time with his siblings, D. Wayne & his wife Marguerite of Warwick, RI; Bruce & his wife Susan Dacey of Weston, MA; Charlene Sullivan of Johnston, RI; Linda of West Warwick, RI; and Darlene Velardo of Framingham, MA. He could not spend enough time with his adored nieces and nephews, Daniel Sullivan & his companion Nicole Acampora; Meggan Ayres; Michaela & her wife Lindsay Greene; Lauren, Tim Sullivan; John Velardo; Ben; Jorie; Jimmy Velardo; and Jackie Velardo; his great nephews and niece, Logan and Owen Ayers, and Zuri Daniel-Greene. He still held his former brother & sisters-in-law, Debbie Daniel; Susan O’Neill; and Anthony Velardo, as well as his dear friend Deidre Malloy close to his heart. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his brother, Charles P. Jr., and his brother in law, Arthur Sullivan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Donald’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Monday, July 2nd from 4–8 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning in St. Stephen Parish, 221 Concord St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will be private.
