“Life is like a book.  It has a beginning and an end.  God decides our beginning and end.  It is up to us to fill the pages.”   William E. Stevens.

The Lord completed the last page of William (Bill) Stevens amazing life on March 26, 2017. In between the first page and now Bill was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, father in law, uncle, brother in law, football coach, friend and neighbor.

Born on February 5, 1925 in South Boston, Bill helped raise his siblings and supported his family.  He joined the Coast Guard shortly after the start of WW2 where he bravely served in the South Pacific battling Japanese forces.  Bill participated in five major invasions and many re-supply operations.

After the war ended Bill married the late Edith Francis (Condon) Stevens and they eventually settled in Framingham MA where they raised their 5 children.  Bill worked as a Sales Manager for Eastco in Westwood, and coached Pop Warner Football in Framingham for many years, including a couple teams that went undefeated, and unscored upon.

Bill was always a gracious, easy going person with an infectious smile.  As our father, he was an outstanding role model and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Alan (Karen), Gail Stevens Gleaton (the late Dwight), Karen (Chuck), Ron (Christine) all of San Diego CA, and Mike (Faith) of Northborough MA., his eight grandchildren; Miranda, Sam, Allie, Cole, Taylor, Shane, Rees and Ava, and his sister Claire McDonough of Quincy.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Thursday, March 30th from 4-7 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in St. George’s Church, 74 School St., Saxonville, at 9 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery.
