It is said that a coach will impact more young people in a year than the average person does in a lifetime. That couldn’t ring more true for Walter R. He married the love of his life, JoAnne in 1982 and settled in Framingham where they raised their two children. He founded Sullivan & Powers, a Telecommunication sales company, and later T.W.I., which provides installation services.
Wally coached youth, high school and college hockey for more than 40 yrs., most recently for the last 10 yrs. at Becker College in Worcester. He was a longtime parishioner, usher, and school supporter at St. Bridget’s in Framingham. In 1987 he joined the Framingham Country Club where he was known to always have a fist pump greeting for everyone, a smile on his face and a genuine hello. Wally loved spending time with his grandsons, and vacationing with his loving companion Terri Kanieff.
He is survived by his children, Patrick J. of Framingham, and Meaghan Ocasio & her husband Juan of Framingham, his grandsons, Jason & Jackson Ocasio, his siblings, Edward “Ted” of Natick, and Maureen E. of Framingham, and his nieces and nephews, Suzanne & Dan Richardson, Marianne Thomas, Lauren and Lexa Piazza, James, Emily, Abbigail and Savannah.
