Peter D. HigginsJuly 20, 1935 ~ June 6, 2017 (age 81)
Peter D. Higgins, 81, of Lincoln, died Tuesday June 6, 2017. Born in Cambridge on July 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Jerome S. and Venita (Baker) Higgins.
Peter graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in 1953. After graduating from Boston College in 1957 he received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1964.
After working in the corporate world Peter had a long career as an inventor and entrepreneur. Buoyed in part by the success of his first invention, he gave up a career in finance to spend more time on his many inventions. His company, Xtrax Corporation, marketed his inventions: “Tow Treads” and “New York Times Crossword Commuter” which were two of the most successful.
An avid dog lover Peter created his second business “Peter’s Pet Sitting”. Never could a dog walk by without a down on his knees greeting from Peter. Peter loved gardening which consisted of a comfortable chair, a cold beverage and watching his flowers grow. When not skiing, many cold winter months were spent exploring Tortola, his favorite island vacation spot for 30 years.
Peter is survived by his four children, Patti Fischer of Fayston, VT, Paul of Gaysville, VT, Susan DeStefano of Framingham and Carol Morcone of Hopkinton; his sister Judith Parks; and two grandchildren Philip and Diana DeStefano. Peter was predeceased by his brother Jerome S. (Buddy) Higgins and sister Norma L. Bowersox.
