Noreen L. (Shea) Murphy, 80, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Francis & Mildred (McLean) Shea.
Noreen completed grade school at St. Stephen’s in Framingham. She was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newton, and later attended Nursing School at Framingham Union Hospital. Noreen worked briefly at Dennison Manufacturing Company before becoming the office manager for the family business, David J. Murphy & Sons.
Noreen was a devout Catholic and a member of St. George Parish. She loved being with family. Noreen was a kind, honest, and loving person who saw the good in everyone and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a homemaker, raising her 5 children while managing the family business. Noreen loved her grandchildren and took care of many of them in their younger years. She and Dave spent weekends and summer vacations at their home away from home in York Beach, ME.
In 1958, Noreen married her sweetheart, David J. Murphy. Together they raised 5 children. Noreen is survived by her children: Jim & his wife Terry, David & his wife Sheila, Colleen Daniels & her husband John, Marybeth Osborne & her husband Doug, and Christine Paget and her husband Phil, all of whom reside in Framingham. Noreen is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren (with 1 on the way), her sisters, Kathleen Tomasetti & her husband Ray of Ashland, and Christine Chesmore of Framingham, and many nieces and nephews. Noreen was predeceased by her sister Joanne Lowther, and her brothers-in-law, Norman Lowther and Richard Chesmore.
Family and friends will honor and remember Noreen’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Wednesday, September 27th from 4 – 8 P.M. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in St. George’s Church, 74 School St., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
