Joseph Corvese, Jr., 92, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully on Thursday May 11, 2017. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Silva) Corvese, and the beloved husband of the late Norma (Sutton) Corvese.

Joe grew up in Providence and like many of “The Greatest Generation” joined the Army as soon as he turned 18, and headed off to WWII.  Serving primarily in the European Theatre, he was a ball turret gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress for 13 missions. When the war ended, he landed in Washington D.C. working for the CIA as a courier between the CIA Director and the White House, where he ultimately met the love of his life Norma, who was also employed by the CIA. In 1957, they married in Providence and moved to MA, where Joe worked as Computer Engineer for UNIVAC until his retirement 30+ years later.

Joe was an accomplished big band era musician who played both the saxophone and the clarinet with the Bob Clifford Band . He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Laura Gobron & her husband David of Northborough, Sandra Saunders & her husband John of Amherst, NH, and Mark & his wife Jo-Anne of Raynham, seven grandchildren,  Paul & his wife Michelle, Alan and Douglas Gobron, Timmy, Siobhan, and Alyssa Saunders, and Katherine Anderson.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved Norma, Joe was predeceased by his siblings, Virginia Piacitelli, Gloria O’Keefe, and Richard Corvese.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joseph’s life by gathering for visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Tuesday morning, May 16th from 8:30 – 9:30 A.M.  His Funeral Mass will follow in St. George’s Church, 74 School St., Saxonville at 10 o’clock.  Interment will follow with Military Honors at MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 P.M.
