John DiMariaDecember 17, 1940 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 77)
John DiMaria, 77, died Friday, December 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. Born in Naro, Sicily, son of the late Augustino & Francesca (Alaimo) DiMaria, he was the beloved husband of Enza (Cacciatore) DiMaria.
Raised and educated in Sicily, John immigrated to Framingham at the age of 20. He worked construction and put himself through barber school. Not long after, he opened his first shop, and for more than 50 years owned The Avenue Barber Shop on Union Ave. John loved bowling, and was a proud 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Coeur de Leon Council #87, and a lifetime member of the Elks Club of Natick.
Besides his loving wife Enza, John is survived by his daughters, Franca Profeta & her husband Enzo of Sicily, and Susan DiMaria & her boyfriend Eric Richardson of Worcester, his granddaughter, Valentina, his grandsons, Christopher and Corey, his father-in-law, Salvatore Cacciatore, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember John’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home,11 Lincoln St., Framingham, on Thursday, January 4th from 4 – 8 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord St. at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
