Mrs. Joan T. (Lynch) Santos, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Saint Patrick’s Manor. She was 90.

Joan was born October 13, 1927 in Augusta, Maine a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Annie (Briggs) Lynch. Raised and educated in Maine she was a graduate of Cony High School and attended Bates Business College. She married Richard L. Santos and they later moved to Waltham where they made their home for over 50 years. Richard died June 25, 1984 and Joan moved to Carmel Terrace Assisted Living at Saint Patrick Manor in 2011. Her family is grateful for the love, care and friendships that Joan was blessed with while a resident at both Carmel Terrace and Saint Patrick Manor.

Her faith was her guiding light, source of strength and protector throughout her life. An active parishioner and daily communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham she also taught in its CCD Program.

In addition to her husband, Richard she is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Santos and her siblings, Sally, Mary, Dorothy and Joseph Lynch.

She leaves her children, Stephen L. Santos of Onset, Susan M. Miele and her husband, Stephen of Wellesley and Richard L. Santos Jr. of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Jill Santos of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Kara E. Tobin and her husband, Michael of Wareham and Stephen R. Miele Jr. and his wife, Maura of Wellesley; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Sean Tobin and Luke Stephen Miele; also survived by nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joan's life by gathering for a time of visitation from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. on Friday, December 1st in the Holy Family Chapel of Saint Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in  South Dartmouth Cemetery, South Dartmouth.
