Gerald Couto, 77, a longtime Framingham resident died on Monday, June 5, 2017.  Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Dimas & Delia (Silvia) Couto.

Jerry attended the Rhode Island School of Design, was a graduate of Boston Architectural College, and a Registered Architect who practiced for 54 years. He ultimately ran his own firm, Dream House Designs in Framingham. He also served in the Marine Corps and later the reserves.

Always active in his community, Jerry assisted his alma mater Boston Architectural College on both the Alumni Board and the Honor & Awards Committee. He was formerly a Danforth Museum board member, and was on Framingham Town Meeting for 26 years. Jerry was currently the Chair of the Framingham Historic District Commission and also member of the Framingham Historic Commission.

Jerry had a love for architecture, politics, sports and chocolate.  Above all else, he loved his family.

He is survived by his children, Adam and his children Aiden and Natalia, Renée Cornell & her husband Scott and her children, Dominic and Jared Cascino, and Eric & his wife Angela and their children, Eric Joseph, Mia, and Amanda, his life partner of 38 years, Jan Harrington and her children, Rob Harrington & his wife Faye, Linda Harrington Baker & her husband Caleb and their children, Alexandra and William Baker, and the late Greg Harrington.

Family and Friends will honor and remember Gerald’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham, on Monday, June 12th from 4 – 8 P.M.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning in St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Gerald’s name to: Athenaeum Restoration Fund, Friends of Saxonville, P.O. Box 3236, Framingham, MA 01705-3236
