Earl L. PetersonAugust 4, 1926 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 91)
Earl L. Peterson, 91, a longtime resident of Framingham and Bristol, NH, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 after a brief illness, with his loving family at his side. Born in Framingham, the son of Enoch L. & Mary (MacNeil) Peterson, he was the loving husband to Frances L. (Dyer) Peterson for 62 years.
Earl graduated Framingham High School in 1944, and that same year enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during WWII in the South Pacific on the USS Noble. He came home and married the love of his life Frances, and raised his family.
Earl was employed for more than 30 years at Verizon retiring in 1988 as a foreman in the Framingham Toll Test Dept. He was a member of the Pioneer’s and a long time volunteer with the Pioneer’s at the New Hampshire Talking Books, and the American Legion Post 26 in Bristol, NH. Always active in his faith, he was a longtime Parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish in Bristol, NH, and prior to that St. Bridget’s Parish and St. Stephen’s Parish of Framingham. He was a proud 25 years Auxiliary Police Officer with the Town of Framingham, and a Framingham Heart Study participant.
He and Frances were blessed to enjoy a long retirement in NH and travel all over the world. Earl loved working with his hands. He was a talented craftsman and handyman, and he enjoyed working on improvement projects and helping his children and grandchildren with their projects. He also loved the outdoors and working in the yard.
Earl’s family came first and he loved nothing more than spending time with them. Besides his wife Frances, he leaves his children, Lynn Andrews & her husband James of Framingham, Eric & his wife Mary of Tyngsboro; his grandchildren, Peter, Mark and Sean Andrews, Lauren Giroux & her husband Kyle, and Carl and Bret Peterson; his sister-in-law, Eleanor “Dolly”; and his niece Mary. His brother Ralph predeceased him.
Family and friends will honor and remember Earl’s life by celebrating his Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, December 16th in St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord St., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will be private.
