Darragh Elizabeth Callahan, 74, most recently of Shrewsbury died on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Born and raised in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. & Marie M. (Carroll) Callahan.

Darragh was a graduate of Marian High School, class of 1961, and stayed close over the years with many of her classmates. She later graduated from Aquinas Jr. College, Boston University, and the University of New Mexico, ultimately earning her Ed.D from Boston University where she was honored with the Alumni of The Year Award.

A career educator, Darragh taught early childhood in Yuma, AZ and Jemes, New Mexico from 1970-1982, and later in Frankfort and Berlin Germany and Vicenza, Italy from 1982-1997 where she was a member of many academic organizations, and served as the Chief of Child Development Services Branch, Chief of Family Support Division, and Child Development Services Coordinator.

Darragh returned to Framingham in 1997, where she was able to renew old friendships, and continued to educate children through programs at BU, MassBay Community College, and Walden University.

Blessed with a lively sense of humor and mischief, she was a welcome addition at any gathering of friends. She loved to travel, and took advantage of her many years in Europe, and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland with her sisters and dear friends Mary Bransford and Jane Lannak & their husbands.

Darragh is survived by her adored sisters Carroll Jane of Mystic, CT, Martha Flinter of No. Grafton, and Moira Minnucci & her husband Rudolph of Shrewsbury, her large extended family, 12 nieces and nephews, 28 grand nieces and grand nephews, 3 great grand nieces and great grand nephew.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Rev. Raymond J. Callahan, S.J., her sister, M. Joan Gilbert, and her nephew Randolph P. Dewar.

Family and friends will honor and remember Darragh’s life by celebrating her Funeral Mass on Saturday April 7th, in St. Bridgets Church, 830 Worcester Rd. (Rte 9 E) at 11:30 A.M. Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
